November 2010 thoughts -

With election results on our minds, it is significant to note that there are hundreds of newly elected legislators throughout our country.  This colossal change brings with it an even greater potential for sharing the Gospel in the nerve center of society.  For the many freshmen legislators claiming the name of Christ, there is a vital need to have someone come along side them to encourage them in their walk with Christ, help them navigate the potential hazards of public office, and exhort them to share the Gospel with their colleagues.

The enemy of the believer desires to devour us and make us fall. (1Peter 5:8)  This is magnified in the political arena.  Imagine a target on the back of each leader.  This should bring us to our knees in prayer for every leader God has ordained for us, believer or not.  If a Christian falls, Satan rejoices.  If a Christian leader falls, he is ecstatic. Leaders by definition lead people.  Accordingly, ministering to those in authority is strategic in nature, for it is by leadership a nation can be led in righteousness or grave sin. (Proverbs 14:34)

The Gospel of Christ is being proclaimed in capitols throughout this country because of your faithful generosity.  Without your prayers and financial support, the work of Capitol Commission would be sorely hindered.  Thank you for investing in the lives of your leaders by sending laborers into the political arena to proclaim the life saving message of Jesus Christ!

Your Missionary to the Indiana State House,

Matthew Barnes
